Second Annual Taylor Gingerbread House!

Last year you may remember we did our first Gingerbread House. So we were excited when a box came in the mail with another one for us to do this year! (Thanks Grandpa & Grandma)

Mike and I assembled the house while Tyler and Kalen decorated little cookies.

These were fun, easy, and yummy.

Then it was time to decorate! I forgot to get the camera back out until we were almost finished!

Tyler did most of the work decorating the house and Kalen decorated the little gingerbread man and Christmas tree for the front yard.

This picture shows how much fun they were having!

So here is the Taylor’s second Gingerbread house! Do you see the bite in the Gingerbread man’s head! Ha! Kalen thought she was supposed to eat him. Smile

I think last year’s looks a little better, but maybe it just shows that the kids did most the work on this one. (Or that mommy cut the hole in the piping bag a little too big Winking smile Woops!)

Pumpkin Carving

Yesterday we carved pumpkins TWICE! We made one at Tyler’s friends house that morning and then carved a couple last night with Daddy.

In the morning Tyler didn’t want to do too much carving. I think it was because he was too busy playing, but Dad was able to get him to help that night.

Tyler wanted to make a spider one. It was a little complicated, but he helped do some of the carving too.

Kalen wanted a “Bell Bell pumpkin”! So Mommy helped her carve out Tinkerbelle!

When they were through Tyler wanted to put his in his room, but we talked him into letting it stay outside. We had to light them up right away to see how they looked!

Perfect! Now anytime we drive off the kids say, “look at our pumpkins!”

Our First Gingerbread House

This year I decided to get a Gingerbread house for us to decorate. I figured the kids were old enough to enjoy it and it was one of my favorite things to do at Christmas time growing up.

Mom and Dad helped with the frosting and then Tyler did the decorating with the candy.IMG_0107 He was very careful with his placement of the little candies, he didn’t want any of the same colors next to each other.IMG_0110 Here his is telling us how he wants to decorate the roof.IMG_0109 Kalen tried to help a little, but she just ended up knocking the candy off the house and then putting them in her mouth!IMG_0114 Tyler enjoyed some of the leftover candies after the house was done.IMG_0115I think our first family gingerbread house came out pretty good! IMG_0119 It was such a fun activity, I’m sure we will be doing it again next year! Oh, and the best part was that the gingerbread house was pre-assembled!! So all you had to do was decorate! So easy!

Couple Scrap Pages

Well I finally got some time in my scraproom today. I made a couple cards and finished up these layouts.

I love this one, cause I got to use some pink!

Halfway through 2005! I'm gettin there!

A lot of you commented on how cute the smock was that Tyler was painting in. It actually came in a set that he got from Target. Here is the picture of it. And it comes in a cute little bucket too (that is why the paints match the smock....no I didn't plan it, but it will look nice on a scrap page).

Fun with Paint

Here is Tyler's first try with painting. We got them out one afternoon when Aunt Meagan was here and he just loved it.
We tried to encourage him to use his fingers, but he wasn't too sure about that.
I think he only got 1 little finger dirty.
Then he wanted the brush again.
He concentrated so hard on his painting. I think we have a creative little boy on our hands.
He did so well, I should have gotten them out earlier. We will have to make this a regular activity around the Taylor household.

Lil Painter

Well I decided to let Tyler "test out" his painting skills with a paint with water book this morning. Do you all remember these books?? I couldn't believe they still made them! I thought that before I broke out the real finger paints I would see how he does with the water. And to my surprise he did very well!

So careful...

He was very excited about coloring the "choo choo."

Such a cutie pie! (When he wants to be...)

Play-Doh Fun

Tyler got a Play-Doh set for Christmas so we got it out a few days ago. I was a little scared that he wasn't old enough for it, but he did so well and loved it! He only tried to eat it once :).

His favorite thing was to make spaghetti, he squeezed that thing all by himself!

The minute I opened up the container the smell brought back so many memories. It was fun to share the Play-Doh experience with my own son.

Who know's maybe soon we will get out the finger paints?!?!?
